CRITTERS: Misc. industrial locos

OCTOBER 14, 2007

DELRAY CONNECTING RAILROAD
US STEEL GREAT LAKES WORKS
ECORSE, MICHIGAN

DC 64 is switching hot metal cars at the US Steel Great Lakes Works. We are on an excursion vessel which goes right by the steel plant and blast furnaces just a few dozen feet offshore. Great opportunity for photography.
Here is DC 64 with a cut of empty hot metal cars.

And another view of DC 64.

DC 70 is also working by the water, sorting out mill cars with coiled steel on them.

DETROIT, MICHIGAN
DOWNTOWN "PEOPLE MOVER"

The following 4 photos were taken from a cruise vessel just off downtown Detroit and show the "People Mover", a 2 care elevated train to move people around a small area in downtown Detroit. I think it is more of a project designed for people visiting the budding entertainment district rather than moving commuters. The 2 cars are brightly painted moving advertisements if you care to look closely.

Here is a small industrial switcher, probably a Plymouth, at the Anderson's elevators and dock on the Maumee River in Toledo, Ohio. The little loco is sitting just behind the salt water bulker Bright Laker. Not sure if it is used anymore or not.
